Ara Margossian, Partner

Ara is a specialist telecommunications commercial and regulatory lawyer. He has extensive experience advising telecoms and broadcasting clients both domestically and internationally on a range of access, interconnection, competition law and regulatory matters.

Ara's experience includes large scale commercial and regulatory matters covering next generation access, network rollout, network sharing, access and interconnection.

He has extensive experience in negotiating complex commercial agreements, as well as dealing with regulators on competition law and regulatory matters.

Some of Ara's recent experience includes:

  • advising NBN Co Limited on a range of wholesale and regulatory issues associated with the deployment of Australia's National Broadband Network (NBN)
  • advising SingTel on its commercial arrangements with the OpenNet consortium to design, construct and operate the passive infrastructure of Singapore's Next Generation National Broadband Network (NGNBN)
  • advising Qatar Telecom on its wholesale access and network sharing arrangements with Vodafone Qatar, as well as wholesale fibre access issues in Greenfield developments
  • advising Commercial Radio Australia and the Digital Radio Joint Venture Companies in relation to the access regime for digital radio and the auction of excess spectrum
  • advising a middle eastern operator on the implementation of fibre and copper bitstream access services.

Prior to joining Webb Henderson, Ara was employed as a lawyer in the Competition and Regulation Group at Gilbert + Tobin.
