Corin Maberly, Partner

Corin is an experienced commercial lawyer specialising in the areas of outsourcing and complex technology transactions, advising both users and suppliers of technology, and in relation to all aspects of the procurement process. Corin’s work ordinarily involves him on business critical projects for clients across a broad range of sectors including telecommunications, financial services and government.

Corin’s experience includes:

• Structuring, negotiating, and drafting complex technology and sourcing transactions, including:  long-term and strategic information technology and business process outsourcings (network management, data centres, call centres, desktop management); software licensing, maintenance, and development systems integration agreements (ERP systems, front office trading systems, accounting and settlement systems, telecommunications billing systems); Web-hosting and Internet-related agreements (managed services, cloud computing); IT and telecommunications equipment purchase and leasing transactions (hardware, software, fibre optic cables);
• Providing assistance on all stages of technology and sourcing transactions:  gathering requirements and developing requests for proposals; conducting competitive term sheet negotiations among potential bidders; and recommending sourcing strategies; and
• Advising on and negotiating complex contract management issues arising from technology agreements, including:  structuring governance models; assisting in terminations for cause and convenience; renegotiating agreements; and resolving complex scope, performance and service level disputes.

Corin has gained his experience in private practice and as an in-house legal advisor in both New Zealand and in the United Kingdom, and regularly advises clients throughout Asia Pacific and Europe.

Corin is a frequent speaker at industry and legal conferences and publishes articles on IT law on a regular basis.
