Our approach
How we work
We are positive and enthusiastic about the work we do. We chose this area of law because it excites us.
Clients identify easily with us because of our depth of knowledge in, and our passion for, our specialist areas. We invest significant non-chargeable time in deepening our knowledge and understanding in these areas and in our clients' businesses. We aim for our conversations with our clients to be informed exchanges of information. We do not expect our clients to train us in the relevant subject matter.
Direct communication
Our advice and style of communication is concise, open and direct. Our views are informed by our knowledge of the law, but also our deep understanding of the industry in which our clients operate. We are courageous in our opinions, even when they may not be what our client wants to hear. We will always give a view - we don't fence-sit - and if we advise a client that something cannot be done, we look for an alternative pragmatic and commercial solution to the problem.
Employee support
We place tremendous importance on our employees' growth and well being. We offer them an encouraging and supportive environment where they can realise their full career potential while working for the best clients, doing the most interesting and challenging work. They are well rewarded and we expect all of our legal staff to have the potential to make partner.
Our charges
We are upfront about our charges. We believe that our clients must clearly understand the costs involved before we start our work. As a result, our clients know what to expect in advance of receiving our invoices.
Sometimes hourly billing will not meet the business requirements of particular projects. In these circumstances, we can be flexible and creative in our fee arrangements.
Size
We are a small to medium sized practice at the moment, but we intend to expand. This will be driven by our ability to recruit the right people, and to maintain a first-tier service, rather than by workload levels.
Location
Our offices are in Sydney, Auckland and Singapore. In time, we may open other offices as market opportunities present themselves.
